OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to implement WHO country cooperation strategies that are aligned with Member State's health development agendas and emergency/resilience programmes, and harmonized with the United Nations country teams
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The incumbent will perform the following duties: - Prepare and follow up on the implementation of the environmental health plan of action in consultation with the national counterparts to implement the critical interventions proposed in the national environmental health strategy.
- Conduct trainings for MoPH staff, implementing partners and other stakeholdersto build up local competences.
- Follow-up and report country progress on environmental health activities. Identify gaps and propose remedial actions.
- Provide technical input in the expansion of environmental health surveillance activities in linkage with epidemiological databases.
- Conduct field visits to ensure applicability and appropriate implementation of the activities supported by the WHO, specifically for medical waste management, safe and dignified burial of infectious bodies, health staff and patients' protection.
- Represent WHO/CO in the environmental Health Cluster and working groups within the overall Emergency and Crisis response in Lebanon.
- Represent WHO/CO in the national committees and initiatives on Tobacco prevention and coordinate Tobacco related activities within the TFI and MPOWER global plan.
- Participate in the Development of proposals for fund raising for environmental health activities for WHO/CO.
- Review and provide feedback on Environmental health documents and projects and reports submitted to CO.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential
: University degree in environmental health or engineering/science, Public health or related discipline
Desirable
: Advanced university (Master's level or above) in public health or environmental engineering/science with focus on environmental health
Experience

Essential
: At least 2 years of relevant experience in the assessment, management and implementation of environmental health activities or projects
Desirable
: Relevant work experience in WHO, UN organizations/agencies, international institutions, health cluster partners, recognized humanitarian organizations or NGOs
Skills
* Demonstrated knowledge in Environmental Health field with proven ability to identify and solve technical problems in difficult circumstances.
* Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with proven ability to elaborate and implement projects.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to promote cohesive actions and convince officials with tact and diplomacy.
* Ability to write in a clear and concise manner, and to present factual information.
* Knowledge of WHO, the UN System or international NGO work and their practices and procedures as related to the work.

REMUNERATION
Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at LBP 102,079,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
